About Jovelyn (Ako and Sila)
Jovelyn is from Villamore in Sultan Kudarat, Philippines. As the youngest of ten siblings, she moved to Lebanon at 20 to support her family and later navigated through a troubled marriage and the loss of her mother in 2011, supporting herself by trading rice and second-hand clothes.
Seeking better opportunities, Jovelyn then moved to Hong Kong, where she worked as a domestic helper before eventually settling in Thailand.
There, she founded Ako & Sila, a brand that resonates with the meaning "me & them" in Tagalog.
Today, her brand thrives with three outlets in Bangkok—Chatuchak Weekend Market, Phra Athit Pier, and Terminal 21 Asok.
